We kicked off our SummerHigh 2010 Retreat by gathering at Gracepoint to register. We had lunch and a time of icebreakers to get to know about 80 InterHigh students who came to the retreat.. After lunch, we packed into our twelve-van caravan for Sierra Lodge. The first couple of days were jam-packed with games for a fun time of bonding with the students and staff. We divided into four teams—“team Xtreme,” “insideOut,” “solid,” and “we’re on fire” to play some rousing sports ultimate frisbee, soccer, and …

Now What? This is WHAT!
As soon as people started arriving, we got into groups by grade and readied ourselves for the challenges ahead. We were competing to see which team would do the best in a series of games ranging from human foosball to Team Simon Says. My group was the twelfth graders and our team name was the Beastly Butterfly Boys and Birls (Girls). After each team gave its team cheer, we all rushed off to play. My team joined three others at the four-way tug-o-war, but we were soundly (and embarrassingly) defeated by the sixth graders….

Watch the RISE SKIT + Dr. Craig’s Talk
Watch the hilarious but poignant Resurrection Skit done by youth students! From 6th graders doing the shadow puppets to prop moving to the acting, we were all awed at how well the skit was executed.
Come watch! Show your support for the youth by telling us (in the comments) what your favorite part of the skit was!
William Lane Craig’s Full talk is also here!

600+ at RISE: Evidence for the Resurrection
Over 600 people attended an amazing evening at Rise this past Saturday! There was much anticipation in the air, as we awaited to hear from one of the most well-known Christian philosopher, author, theologian, professor, debater, and apologist of our time! Friends came from as far as Fresno and Vacaville to hear Dr. William Lane Craig give his arguments for the plausibility of Jesus’ resurrection, and how this life-changing event of Christ conquering death was really the hinge of history.

In this past “RISE: Evidence for the Resurrection”, we had a chance to hear William Lane Craig share with us a long list of evidence supporting the fact that Jesus did indeed RISE from the dead! Amazing!
But wait… I understand that Jesus rose from the dead but NOW WHAT?
Join us this coming InterHigh Monthly VII as we discuss what the Resurrection of Jesus Christ and what it all means for us personally.

Join us for InterHigh #6 as we delve deeper into the influence of media and the world of video games.
Is it simply a “game”?
Video game technology has come a long way from the old days of Pac-Man. With faster computers, high-speed bandwidth and very realistic graphics, we are living in an age where the line between fantasy and reality is becoming more and more blurry. From young junior high kids to grown up adults, video games …

Do you remember the first Disney movie your parents showed you? How about all the innocent songs, dancing animals, and defeated villains? What if I told you that there’s so much more behind that mask of innocence?
Well at InterHigh Monthly V, we delved into true worldview of Disney with about a hundred students from all over the Bay Area!
Worldview of Disney
We began with presentations from our very own mentors on the worldview of Disney, reliving our past a little bit (watching some among us do their best to sing some …

We were at RISE and it was AWESOME! Hundreds of Christian youths from all over the bay area came to the UC Berkeley Campus to attend “RISE: Take a Stand for Jesus”. The music was blarin’, youths were singing at the top of their lungs as the praise team led all of us in an incredible time of praise…

Exposing the Disney Myth.
How many of you have ever watched Little Mermaid? Or Beauty and the Beast? Or Aladdin? You probably thought it was just a harmless kid’s movie, where its all about a beautiful princess finding the love of her life, about love at first sight, and about living happily ever after. But what is the real worldview presented in these movies? What do these movies have to say about relationships, about self-image, and about gender roles?…

Did you know that an average U.S. citizen spends 3,700 hours a year watching some form of mass media? That’s a little over five months!
At last month’s InterHigh Monthly, we learned facts such as this as we excitedly witnessed once again over 160 students flocking from all over northern California to attend, as well as a group that drove four hours all the way from Fresno!
The night started with a talk on the influence of media, as we watched a video created by Focus on the Family titled “Mind Over …

Happy New Year! We will be kicking off our first InterHigh of 2010 with a jam-packed schedule so you don’t want to miss out!
Session #1: Mind over Media
We’re going to take a look at media’s powerful ability to influence us. Each year, we spend hundreds of dollars per person on media, looking for entertainment or to pass time. However, sometimes we’re getting a lot more than we bargained for. Given that much of today’s media …

Once again, over 150 high school and junior high school students decided to spend their saturday evening at InterHigh. This week we had a chance to look at the inner workings of the cell. The junior high school students got a head start in biology, and the high school students marveled at the intricate processes that take place in a not-so-simple cell.
Watch this animation video made by scholars at Harvard.
It’s the DNA in each cell that makes these intricate processes possible. DNA, as anyone who takes high …

By Kristen Lee, 10th grader at Davis Senior High
High school students and junior high school students always sigh wistfully and say, “I can’t wait until I just get into college!” as tests and finals swing around, as they think that life some how magically gets better once college starts. I’ve heard that from so many, many of my peers, but from what I see, hear, and have witnessed, it is quite the opposite! Although to us it seems that the grass is always greener on the other side, college is …
